Now Bridging the Gap is beginning to take shape, we’ve begun taking steps to develop the project further – Bridging Gaps will bring the collaborative nature of the main project closer together by giving all ten sonic artists, musicians, and composers involved in the three year programme the opportunity, funding, and resources to create collaborative compositions forming stronger cultural links between our nations; culminating in performance and exhibition to close Hull’s tenure as UK City of Culture in 2020.
As we will be working with schools and youth groups in Hull, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, and Sweden, we will be creating self sustaining cultural links and a network of resources, performers, and artists.
The chance to create something really special in the form of public sound installations and choral performance will give the participants from each host city the space to dream; to imagine on a much larger scale, with the artists involved on hand to realise and navigate the logistics of their grand designs on a global scale with the project management to achieve funding sufficient to allow them to travel and experience one another’s cultures together.
Cultural identity and cohesion through co-creation and collaboration on a global scale…
